#tbt: Windmill Farms Palm Dessert - Our FIRST Couples Portrait Session

Yes… you read that right, our FIRST official couples session. An actual legit shoot together, and it only took 6 years! It has been something that we have always talked about but that I never really prioritized. For a while I felt hella uncomfortable having someone else take pictures of me because I am always the one behind the camera. For years I’ve had other couples in front of my camera and captured their loving and candid moments but I never treated photo sessions the same for my own relationship. Writing this, I really think I was burnt out on shooting others and by time the weekends came around being in front of the camera doing the same thing I just got done shooting or editing was probably the last thing I wanted to do.

So a few weeks ago Caricia planned and booked us an amazing little weekend get away to Palm Springs. It was a much needed and deserved trip for us. I believe it was the second night at dinner or maybe the first night…. anyway, we where discussing what we could do for the weekend. Lots of ideas where tossed around and doing a photoshoot at the windmills off the freeway was one of them. I played it off as a far fetched idea when secretly a lightbulb struck. On the drive in I remembered seeing a Redlands sign not to far from Palm Springs which led to me thinking of my only friend who lives out there, Samantha aka Lo. So I shot her a quick text while we where eating dinner asking if she was available Saturday morning for about an hour to do a quick mini sesh and luckily she was!

Talk about friends coming through on the fly to make things happen. It really was special for us because for the 3 years we lived long distance (OC to Phoenix) we would always pass these windmill farms and we always talked doing a shoot here. The 10 freeway was what connected us and having these photos done on this trip with the perfect timing was a blessing. We really appreciate you Lo for capturing these for us. It means the world to me to go from shooting weddings together to have you capture my first session with the love of my life!
